Check List for Moving!

 1.  Give Address Change To:

• Post Office
• Charge Accounts, Credit Cards
• Subscriptions:  Notice requires several weeks
• Friends and relatives

2.  Bank

• Transfer funds, arrange check-cashing in the new location

3.  Insurance

• Notify companies of your new location for coverage: Life, Health, Fire and Auto

4.  Utility Companies

• Gas, electric, water, telephone, cell phone, cable
• Obtain refunds on any deposits made

5.  Medical, Dental, Prescriptions Histories

• Ask Doctor and Dentists for referrals
• Transfer needed prescriptions, eyeglasses, X-rays
• Obtain birth records, medical records, etc.

6.  Moving Day

• Carry enough cash or travelers checks to cover costs of moving services and expenses until you make banking connections in the new location
• Carry jewelry and documents yourself, or use registered mail
• Double-check closets, drawers and shelves to be sure they are empty
• Leave old keys needed by new owners with the Realtor

7.  At Your New Address

• Check on services for gas, electric, telephone, cell phone, water and cable
• Check pilot lights on gas appliances including water heater, furnace and stove
• Have new address recorded on driver´s license or if new state apply for new license
• Register car within 5 days after arrival as in some states there are penalties
• Register children in school
• Arrange for medical services: Doctors, Dentists, etc.
• Send out change of address cards
